For Immediate Release
Aug. 13, 2009 (MESA, Ariz.) – The Mesa Historical Society presents the Mesa Ghost Tour & Historical Walk, the annual walking tour of downtown Mesa’s historical sites paired with tales of ghosts and goblins. Held Sat., Oct. 24 at 10:30 a.m., docents will once again take guests above, below (and beyond!) Main Street in downtown Mesa as part of the festive event.
As of 10/19/2009 Tickets are Sold Out
Several stops are featured on the tour where visitors can hear firsthand accounts of things that go bump in the night from Mesa business owners. The tour will feature actual accounts of paranormal happenings in some of Mesa’s oldest buildings and share the storied history of the past helping explain the present-day hauntings. Downtown Mesa’s architectural history is also shared as guests visit the various establishments that date back as far as the early 1900s featuring exposed brick walls and original 90-year-old tin ceilings and windows, and buildings representing more recent architectural eras.
Does Mesa have tunnels? What floats down the stairs in the old territorial jail cells? Do chairs roll, doors slam and can you hear whispers in the dark? Learn more about Mesa’s myths, rumors and legends at this once-a-year event. Tour cost is $10 per person, and prior registration is required. Tickets are on sale now at www.MesaHistoricalMuseum.org. Visitors for the tour should wear appropriate walking shoes, as the tour will last approximately two hours.
As part of the event, tour guests will receive a trick-or-treat bag provided by the Mesa Convention & Visitors Bureau filled with discount offers from downtown Mesa merchants including admission savings at Arizona Museum for Youth and Arizona Museum of Natural History, and the 2010 Official Mesa Visitors Guide. Guests arriving early or staying late can also enjoy the free Saturday MACFest arts festival along Main Street from 10AM – 4PM; the Storytelling Festival at Mesa Arts Center (Various times); the Boo-tiful Bats project at Arizona Museum for Youth (Free with admission); and more.
